Katrina Murphy

Katrina is originally from London-UK and was granted a Green Card as an Alien of Extraordinary ability in 2015. She became an American Citizen in October 2022 and has dual citizenship.
Coming from a Musical family, she originally learnt to sing with her Mother who was a successful West End Musical performer. She then trained at the Arts Educational School London, won the Tom Merrifield Scholarship for all-round best performer to study at the London Studio Centre & finished her classical training at the Royal College of Music
Having a varied career between Opera, Operetta and Musical theatre, roles include Christine in The Phantom of the Opera Broadway/West End production, having previously played the role on the National UK tour for Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group.
Prior to that-Katrina played the role of Carrie in Cameron Mackintosh's production of Carousel at the Shaftesbury Theatre London having previously understudied & played the part at The Royal National Theatre. This show then transferred to Broadway.
Katrina has performed in numerous live performances for the BBC, including the role of Marsinah in Kismet, Anne in A Little Night Music & Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. She has also been a guest artiste in BBC Radio 2's National Music Day & Friday Night Is Music Night.
Other theatre credits include Robert & Elizabeth at the Chichester Theatre, the UK national tour of Kiss Me Kate where she understudied the role of Bianca, the UK tour of 20th Century Musicals, the title role in the British Premiere of The Girl With The Roses at the Bloomsbury Theatre London & she was Michael Balls guest singer on his UK National Tour & at the world famous Royal Albert Hall in London.
Katrina also played the lead role of 'The Spirit of Sherwood Forest' in Robin Hood with Nigel Havers, Lee Mead and Bobby Davro at the Theatre Royal Plymouth UK for QDOS Productions.
Opera credits include Orpheus In The Underworld for Opera North where she played the role of Diana, Queen Of The Night in Magic Flute, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Frascita in Carmen all for Travelling Opera & Valenciene in The Merry Widow for Opera Della Luna. She also performed with the English National Opera in their productions of Orpheus in the Underworld and Ozud.
Katrina has done extensive concert work all over the UK & internationally, working with orchestras such as The London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Scottish Opera Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra Sweden & Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra Switzerland. Other concerts include Bernstein in the '50s at the Symphony Hall Birmingham with the Birmingham Concert Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, Stars of the Musicals in Kuala Lumpur & she was Larry Adler's Guest Singer in his Glory of Gershwin Concert Tour, including a performance at The Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
She also performed in Fascinating Rhythm-A Celebration of Gershwin with the Odense Symphony Orchestra in Denmark.
She played the lead role of "Esmeralda"in Notre Dame in Lithuania and Latvia for audiences of 10,000 people and Adele in Die Fledermause at The Symphony Hall Birmingham with the Halle Orchestra.
Recordings include Carrie in the London Cast Recording of Carousel, Millie in Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Hope in Anything Goes, Grete in The Dancing Years & several West End The Concert Recordings all for TER. TV Credits include The Lawrence Olivier Awards, The Michael Parkinson Show both for the BBC, Speed & On The Road both for ITV. Most recently, she performed with her own act "The Singers in Disguise’ for UK Living TV on their "Four Weddings" program. She has worked extensively in corporate entertainment as a Headline performer including for The Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle, Nigel Mansell former Grand Prix champion, Lord Kirkham at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, The Villa Rothschild in Monte Carlo for the National Federation of Builders, the launch of the new 5 series BMW in Cannes & at the Paris Opera House for Henry Kissinger. Katrina is the Lead performer and is the Creative and Artistic Director of 'KatrinaMurphyEntertainment.net’.She has created numerous acts suitable for concerts and corporate events and hand-picks the performers she works with from Broadway shows, London’s West End and reputable Opera Companies both in the UK and California.
Ross Braun, TV Celebrity Gloria Hunnerford’s Caron Keating foundation at The Savoy Hotel London, and at The Winter Gardens in New York. Katrina and her performers have performed at The Ricoh Arena Birmingham, The Echo Arena Liverpool, for Sheffield United football Club as well as many outstanding venues all over the UK such as the Dorchester, the Ritz, Harrods & The National History Museum for a number of very well known clients including the British prime minister John Major. With her act The Singers in Disguise she has had engagements both in the UK and California. Katrina has performed with her Singers in Disguise act in Florida, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Kansas, San Diego, New York, Los Angeles & Grand Cayman. She recently performed for Hyundai at The Hotel del Coronado in San Diego and in LA for a large event for Union Bank at Union Station.
Other musical theatre roles include Lucy Barker /Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd in Brea California and Mrs Wornwood in Matilda in Costa Mesa California. Other opera credits include with the San Diego Opera Company in their production of Turendot.
Katrina originated the role of ‘QED the Winter Fairy’ in the new musical Winter Lights running in the new 1000 seater auditorium at The Discovery Cube in Santa Ana in 2022 & 2023. She has performed opera La Bohem with Florida Grand Opera in March 2024.
Ms. Katrina as a teacher:
She has taught at numerous Performing Arts schools in the USA & UK as well as attending full time performing Arts school in London from the age of 12. She has run her ‘Glee Club’ and ‘Musical Theatre Workshops’ here in Orange County since living here full time from the beginning of 2018 when she worked for the San Diego Opera Company.
Up until April 2020, she was teaching private singing lessons and music to 4-5 year old children at the Ivy Crest Montessori in Fullerton, which sadly closed because of Covid 19.
As well as running her own successful Entertainment company for 16 years-she has performed for Princess Diana,The Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, The Duke of Edinburgh,Henry Kissinger and Bill Clinton. She trained at the Royal College of Music in London.
She lived in Southern California from 2016 but moved to Wayne New Jersey with her younger son who has won a full scholarship to study Opera at the Mannes School of music in New York City this year! She is excited to join the Lindeblad School of Music.
